My story

Hello.

I'm trying to fly around the world in a very light aircraft (classed in the UK as a microlight) to raise money for charity but whilst I'm working on this project I'm doing whatever I can to fundraise.

Hence when a Clatterbridge person suggested the 100m Space Hopper record... I thought, like you do, why not ? I'm game.

Sadly, having tried, it seems I'm too tall to go fast on a small round orange thing... hence I've graduated onto the Guinness, mile, "Pogo stick" Record.

I look like a complete twit on the damn thing. The following Youtube clip was my first attempt at "climbing onboard" and I sound as camp as a row of tents.

Hopefully I'll look back on this and laugh. Certainly my trying to add up how many bounces I've managed still makes me chuckle.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcTqyQFGOcg

I have a tiny little daughter (lovely little thing) & whilst I'd like to make her proud of me, one day, the key thing is to raise as much money for Clatterbridge even if I look daft in the process !

Hence if you want to sponsor me bouncing up & down or want to go flying sometime please crack on and donate.

Cheers

Jon Hilton, Director, Legal Brokers Ltd

Flying stuff....

As mentioned I'm trying to orbit the globe in my little microlight but mild headaches with the Japanese, Russians, Chinese, the route, fuel, picking up 3rd party insurance.... are causing a few ongoing dilemma's.

Hence I've satisfied myself with a few jaunts to Lands End, John O'Groats, Northern Ireland, Eire, the Scillies, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, France, Holland, Germany and Austria.

There's a few pictures of recent trips (you may need to log onto Facebook) at www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150147009471672.333950.687736671&type=1&l=cde929db62

The last "pic" on the Just Giving site is a video of a landing at a place called Sywell. An Aero exhibition in May 2012. The wheels sound a tad squeaky. The runway's quite flat so that flatters the landing but all in all quiet a gentle affair.

There's more pictures of myself and David Gaskell "competing" in the Round Britain Microlight Rally (21st to 23rd June 2012) stored at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151043647246672.487038.687736671&type=1&l=a6d29b1cd4 . We got lucky and, thanks to David's dependability, we won the GPS category of the event. Which was nice.

The last of the snaps.... I don't have pictures for everyone who's been aloft but there's a couple of pic's of guys who have at, http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150780240551672.465629.687736671&type=3&l=8dca6a1897

If you want to hear me, I don't know why you would, you could head to www.flyingpodcast.co.uk. A very nice chap thought it might be worth recording me. I believe I'm episode 58.... (As of September '12 approximately 1,000 folk have listened, worldwide, apparently).

One last, very boring, thing is a video of another landing. Glenforsa on the Isle of Mull. April 2013... Gusty crosswind. Lot of "sink" before the threshold. Tight circuit to avoid overflying villages. Lot's of curious geese... After we'd landed the airfield owner came over, seemed impressed with the RT and touch down, and asked which airline I flew for. Cheered me up no end. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhoaeN9k3Kc

In summary if you, family members, friends, colleagues (etc) donate, say £25.00, to charity I'll gladly fly you around as a thanks... Please text me on 07746 184198 & I'll confirm a flying date.

PS. If you're looking for blurb about me, for any press release stuff, please head to the Charity page at www.legalbrokers.co.uk. I'm not putting a link here because that kind of stuff makes me cringe a little. ie. you'll have to hunt for the information if you want it !

My updates 13

Dad's been in & out hospital (he's been better bless him) & with the poor weather I've only been able to bounce on the spot.. ie. I'm postponing the Guinness attempt... Looking to fly the CT from the UK to Canada, and back again, on the 25th May. Should be a good distraction !

11/04/13 21:12

Fitness improving. Personal best on the vertical levitation device last night. Currently battling blisters.

18/12/12 13:15

Thought I was fit 'till Virgin Active's Personal Trainer, Mason Tustin, volunteered to get me through the Pogo event. After yesterday's training session I'm in agony today. Ouch !

14/11/12 17:04

Pogo training progressing. Harder than anything I've done before. Tougher than the Iron Man (damn silly name). Looks like the fantastic folk at Peel Holdings (Nick Duriez at Barton & Robin Tudor at Peel) have fixed it for me to use the taxiway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport....

01/10/12 17:03

Jonathan feels damn silly for signing upto the Pogo stick challenge... If I could wriggle out of it I would... What on earth was I thinking ?
