Having been bitten by the triathlon bug a few years ago and worked my way through the various distances I'm now attempting the full Ironman distance. I've previously completed four half Ironman events and now, on Sunday 4th October, I'll be aiming to complete the full distance which is a 2.4 mile swim (in the sea), a 112 mile bike ride and then run a marathon. The event takes place in Calella which is just along the coast from Barcelona in Spain and if all goes to plan should take me 12 to 13 hours.
It would be great if in undertaking this challenge I could also raise some money for a worthwhile cause.
Demelza House is an organisation providing hospice care for over 570 children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South London. It currently runs two hospices, one of which is located a couple of miles from my home just outside Sittingbourne in Kent. More details can be found on their website at www.demelza.org.uk
