Story

Ian Ashford, Jon Ollington and Lee O'Neill are taking part in the 2008 British 10K London Run and are collectively trying to raise money for Get Connected -

Get Connected is a free, UK wide confidential helpline that gives young people in difficult situations the support and information they need to decide what you want to happen next. It could be anything from a listening ear to somewhere safe to stay for the night.

Get Connected relies on volunteer helpline workers trained to support each young person in their unique situation, and help them choose the best service from over 13,000 in the UK. Get Connected is the vital gateway between a distressing, confusing problem the young person can't solve on their own and the service that can help them solve it. Crucially, the connection Get Connected makes for each young person to their chosen source of help is free.

There are eleven million young people in the UK. In Get Connected's survey of 2006, four out of five of these didn't know where to turn with their problems.

Ian has been a volunteer helpline worker for nearly 2 years and is one of the reasons we’re trying to raise money for Get Connected.
