Hi my name is Jonathan Jolly. on september 16th 2009 I had a bad fall whilst training for the "Three peaks cyclocross challenge" resulting in a broken neck & spinal cord injury (C3/4&5) I then spent 6 months in Pinderfields spinal unit at Wakefield. The accident has left me with Tetraplegia, But hey I am a lucky one!
I rode A Recumbent trycycle in september from St bees ,Cumbria to Robin hoods bay, North yorkshire finishing on the second anniversary of the accident. Two years ago I was totaly paralysed from the neck down. Through sheer hard work from the Doctors,Physios and myself I am able to take this challenge on.
I have recently got hold of a recumbent trike this has enabled me to cycle again socialy. you dont have to ballance on three wheels!
Having done the "Coast to Coast" I am planning to ride the length of the country. I know I must be a glutton for punishment. "Lands End to John `o Groats". I will be doing this around april / may 2012 and hopefuly reaching the target in the process. will probably take a little over two weeks. Also I am dedicating this ride to Roger Belson,Director of Regain who sadly passed away on Boxing day 1949 - 2011
And a welcome bonus, is that due to my persistance Recumbent trikes are now recognised by British cycling Paracycling calender 1st race 31st March Lancaster. Hopefuly more people with Tetrapleigia will come forward and make the series a success .
