Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Children and adults with Down’s syndrome are all unique individuals with their own personalities, family backgrounds and preferences that make them who they are. We aim to create the conditions that all people with Down’s syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  My life irrevocably changed when my daughter Vanessa was born on December 6th 2007.  She has Down's syndrome and she is absolutely beautiful.

Many of my mostly subconscious preconceptions about how my life was going to be were shattered the day we discovered that she has Down's syndrome.  I have struggled over the past year with sometimes conflicting emotions ranging from deep sadness to absolute joy.  Vanessa has asked more of me than anyone else I have ever encountered.  Perhaps more fundamentally though she has motivated me to ask more of myself.

One of the ways I have decided to rise to Vanessa's unspoken challenge is by running the London marathon.  The Down's Syndrome Association have been a fantastic source of support for us as a family and I know will continue to be there for us as we journey on with Vanessa.  Please sponsor me and help the approximately 60,000 children and adults with Down's syndrome throughout the country get the support they need.
