Climb Kilimanjaro 2009 · 25 October 2009

The Nasio Trust is a UK registered charity and Kenyan NGO which supports orphaned and vulnerable children and empowers communities to break the cycle of poverty. Established over 20 years ago, our community-based approach is aimed at providing a holistic solution to tackling the root causes of poverty through education, healthcare, psychosocial support, food security and income generation. Our Philosophy. We believe children should not grow up in institutions like orphanages, where they are isolated from society because of poverty, sickness, disease or death of parents. Children should live in a loving family with dignity without being stigmatised by the cause of their vulnerability.

Story

Hi All,

Yes thats right I am doing silly things again - climbing mountains.

Why you might ask?  In the words of George Mallory (Famous Everest Explorer)

'Because it is there'

There is a much better reason as we are climbing it to support the HIV orphan's of Kenya.  Many of these children have lost one or both their parnets to HIV and AIDS.  The Nasio Trust supports them by providing, food, education, clothing and medical care.

The charity started about 5 years ago supporting only 15 orphans from a run down shack.  Today we support over 180 orphans with one purpose build centre and a second due to be opened on the 5th November 2009.

Please look at their website for further details:  www.thenasiotrust.org

100% of any donation will go directly to the charty.  The cost of the climb is funded separately.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. All the best,

Jonathan
