Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Having never run a full marathon I thought I'd use the opportunity to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. I have been a member of the RAFA since I joined the Air Force 17 years ago and the support it offers both serving and ex-serving airmen and women and their families is invaluable. In fact my relationship with the RAFA has existed longer than the one I have with my wife!!!! They can only continue with this work thanks to your generous donations.
As a personal challenge I would like to complete the race in under three and a half hours, although my training is far from ideal as I will spend the last six months of 2009 in Afghanistan recovering from a achilles injury so there will be a lot of work when I get back, but it will be worth it. Big thanks must go out to the Kandahar Physio staff who have helped my with a speedy recovery so that I do have time to train for this race. Thanks to their efforst I have been able to start training again in earnest and completed several runs at both Kandahar and Kabul to get some of the benefits of training at altitude. Now that I am home safely I can reap the rewards of those final weeks of training to prepare for the race and hopefully achieve my target time.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The RAF Association (RAFA) gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
