New York City Marathon 2004 · 7 November 2004 ·

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

I completed my first major marathon in Rome earlier this year. I did this for me - to prove to myself I could do it - rather than for anybody else.

I have now entered the New York Marathon which takes place in November, and this time I am doing a marathon for others; for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. I chose the MS Society because I have a work colleague who is suffering from this progressively damaging disease, and I have watched his condition slowly deteriorate over the last 10 years.

MS attacks the nerve fibres in the central nervous system and interferes with the messages between the brain and other parts of the body. The disease affects 85000 people in the UK alone and there is currently no cure.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Multiple Sclerosis Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support. Jon
