2017: No Chocolate, No Alcohol · 27 December 2016

St Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity offering free, expert care for adults with an illness that cannot be cured, and support for their loved ones and carers. Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,100 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

Story

I'm going to be putting myself through a year of utter torment by giving up all chocolate and alcohol for 2017 (including Christmas Day!) with the aim of raising some funds for St Richard's Hospice, an organisation close to my heart. Those who know me will know how often I frequent the chocolate aisle in Sainsbury's, so this is a really big deal for me.

Please do think about giving generously - it's for a great cause, and I'm sure it'll help me get through those hot summer days and cold winter nights!

FAQs:

"Can you still drink hot chocolate?" - No! This is a blanket abstinence from all food and drink products that contain any form of chocolate/alcohol!

"But Jonny, all you ever eat is chocolate." - Okay, not strictly a question, but your observation is valid...so all the more reason to donate.

"What happens if you don't complete the challenge?" - I will.

"What will you do with the money you'll save by not buying chocolate/alcohol?" - I will be donating this money to various causes and charities (including St Richard's) throughout the year.

"Who's your favourite footballer from the 1990s?" - Probably Colin Hendry.
