Herts & Beds Himalaya Trek · 26 March 2009

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

The biggest challenge of my life.......

Updated 08.12.09 -

With apologies for the tardy speed with which this has been updated!

Words don't come easy for this.......the Himalayas border both Tibet and the indescribable (is that a word?)

The sheer scope and majesty of the mountains are quite humbling, but the humility and happiness of the people in the mountains really is humbling.  How people can be so happy with so little is a real shock.  Raises lots of questions about values.........

I have been privilged to trek with fantastic people.  We hadn't expected to be going up steps for such long periods and this did make it tough on times.  Frightening to see the Nepalese steam past us with 50kgs on their backs and to find them waiting for us having put up the camp site and cooked a meal.

Not an experience I would wish to, or ba able to forget.

Finally, again a massive thanks for helping raise money for the Trust which will help young lives to change for the better.

Cheers

Jon
