My story

Thanks for clicking the link! Unless of course you did it by accident with your elbow whilst leaning over to get your chocomochaccino, or whatever you tend to drink when you're checking your emails...either way, now you're here...

This is the first time I've done a marathon. In fact it's the first time I've done any real exercise at all since about 1995. And that probably didn't count, cos I'm not sure Subbuteo is technically a sport.

Anyway, my beer and tabs training regime has served me well, up to the 10-mile mark at least. But things are gettin' heavy now - Messrs Marlboro and Grolsch have been trusty and reliable training partners for me so far, but I fear I may need to revert to more traditional methods from here on in, like stretching and stuff. And asking for sponsorship. So...

Support Dogs is a pretty small charity, but they do some really cool things - go and have a look at www.support-dogs.org.uk to see exactly what. I can thoroughly recommend clicking on the 'Disability Assistance Dogs' link on the left-hand side of their homepage - they can be trained to do many things which actually, many able-bodied grown men seem to struggle with...loading and unloading the washing machine etc etc - brilliant.

My brother Tim has run the last two London Marathons for them, and is running again this time. I don't know why. You'd think he'd have learnt by now. Anyway, he's planning to do it in 3 hrs 30mins, and is trying to convince me to do the same. In the hugely unlikely event I manage to, do feel free to pop in and see me in hospital afterwards - I like grapes, but not so keen on bananas if that helps...

So, thanks again for reading this far, and for those of you who are as paranoid at doing money-related stuff online as I am, here's some reassuring stuff from those friendly folk at JustGiving:

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Support Dogs gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
