Story

Update 5th September 2005

Thanks for all the donations so far!

Bascially this is what happened.....

6 weeks with no training whatsoever
2 weeks of American Breakfasts, Lunches and Dinners
2 weeks of holiday booze Friday 7AM US time got up Friday 9PM US time caught flight home 1 hour sleep on the flight Saturday 3.30PM UK time landed in London Saturday 5PM UK time drove home Sarurday 9PM Got back, went to shops etc. Saturday 12PM went to bed. Sunday 1AM (yes 1 hours sleep again!) Kids and myself wide awake with Jet Lag. Sunday 6.30AM off to Manchester with bike Sunday 8AM started ride Sunday 4.10PM somehow managed to complete the 100 miles!! Sunday 9PM went to bed with sore legs and arse feeling very happy with myself! Monday 8AM off to work :-( So I managed it. 8 hours 10 mins elapsed time and 6 hours 40 minutes actual cycling time averaging 15mph exactly. I have to say, with the lack of preperation and circumstances this was the most physically challenging thing I have ever done. You can be sure that every penny of your sponsership money was well earned!! At least, with a bit better planning and some training I know next year should be alot easier!! . . . . . Thanks for visiting the site. Here's the deal - I land from a 2 week US holiday of no doubt total over indulgence on a red-eye flight and jet lag to boot on Saturday morning. Then Sunday I am going to attempt to get on my bike and cycle 100 miles! Nut's I know. Am I going to achieve it? Well the answer is I am going to have a damn good attempt at it! At the end of the day, it is for an excellent charitable cause and whether I achieve it or not, you can be sure I will put everything into it that I have and your money is going to help people who really need it. I think most people have had friends or family who have suffered from Cancer in one way or another and this is a chance to give something back. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christie's against Cancer will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
