Story
Joshim Ahmed was a dear friend to so many of us that knew him. Our hearts were broken on 2nd July 2009 when we heard the devastating news he had passed away aged 26 due to liver complications caused by hepatitis.
All our thoughts, I am sure will be with his family, wife Halima and his absolutely perfect baby daughter Jannat. Speaking to Josh on the phone shortly after the birth of Jannat is a memorable moment. He was so elated and said he was so proud to become a daddy. I said she will be a ‘daddy’s girl’ which made him giggle in only a way Josh could do. I believe that Josh is protecting Jannat and Halima and smiling down on them both and will continue to do so eternally.
Josh was full of life, laughter and happiness. He will never be forgotten.
Josh loved bright powerful colours, so I thought it would be in Josh’s favour to put together some poems in exactly that. We miss you mate.
Here is to Joshim/Josh/Joshster/dude:
You're my friend and that is true,
but the gift was given from me to you.
We went thru moments that were good and bad,
even moments that were happy and sad.
You supported me when i was in tears,
we stuck together when we were in fear,
its really sad that it had to be this way,
but it has reached its very last day.
Miles away can’t keep us apart,
'cause you'll always be in my heart.
……
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
With Josh's kind, loving nature I am sure he would want money to be raised to help individuals with liver complications caused by illnesses such as Hepatitis.
