Story
In October 2005 my grandfather James Underwood (better known as Jim) was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He spent the final weeks of his life at St Kentigern Hospice where he died peacefully in April 2006.
The care provided by St. Kentigern’s staff was a great comfort to my grandfather and much appreciated by his family who knew he was receiving the greatest possible help as his life drew to a close.
On December 14th 2008 I plan to complete a sponsored run along theNorth Wales coast in his memory with all donations received going to St Kentigern Hospice. The run will start at Pen Sarn, near Abergele, and finish with a 207m climb to the top of the Great Orme in Llandudno (pictured) covering approximately 15 miles in total.
The money I raise will go towards helping others in similar situations to that experienced by my grandfather and the rest of his family. The part government funded hospice need around £1,000,000 a year to be run properly, they rely purely on fundraising to make up the required money and greatly appreciate any donations.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Kentigern Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
