Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I did it! Yes it's all over now bar collecting the money. It was a fantastic experience and thank you to everyone who sponsored me - I hope the final total once all the gift aid has been added will be well over £2,600, which is more than £100 a mile....it was worth all the pain!
These were my reasons for entering:
I entered the London Marathon this year after thinking about it for years. It seemed like a good way to celebrate being 40 in May. I even did an A-level project 20 (or so) years ago where I chose to write a guide on "how to run your first marathon". At last I'm going to be following some of that advice.
I've raised money through sponsored walks of up to 630 miles before, through a parachute jump, the Royal Marines endurance challenge and through two half-marathons....but this is my first 26 miler in running shoes.
I've chosen to raise money for Help the Hospices because I think the hospice movement does splendid work. Through my job as a BBC reporter and my personal experience through friends and family I know it gives a service that it's invaluable and one that for the most part relies on public generosity to keep going.
So please be generous - dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help the Hospices will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
