Jost's Big Walk 2018

Big Walk 2018 · 22 June 2018 ·
I’m taking part in The Big Walk 2018 – a marathon-length walk through the Peak District on 22 June. It’s a tough challenge, but I’m crazy enough to think that I can do this.
I need your support, though: At last year’s Big Walk, I walked a marathon; in fact, I walked 34 miles. I can do it again. But it will still be long and painful and after 15 or 20 miles giving up will seem so sweet and tempting but I mustn’t do it; I must keep on walking – and your donations will play a big part in keeping me motivated!
Why am I doing this?
1) to support the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility that represents a leap forward in battling cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, stroke and many other illnesses that have affected countless families (including my own). With your help, Sheffield Scanner will truly save lives of people in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
In 2017, the Big Walk and other events raised over £1 million. We’re now at over £1.5 million – so with your help, the finish line is in sight!
2) My personal best for a marathon (during last year’s Big Walk) is 11h 28min. This year, I want to beat that!
3) because, um, … wait a second! Are you seriously asking me to explain why I like to take a walk through the Peak District?! Isn’t that obvious? I mean … you’ve seen the Peak District, right? 😉
