Here is our story:
My mother Joyce has battled cancer two times before, and had beaten it each time whilst going through all treatment and operations available, but never once did this kill her positivity. She is a very hard working person, and would even love to go back now.
In October 2011, she was diagnosed again with cancer, despite being told it wasn't cancer whilst on holiday in Egypt two weeks previous. It was then another 8 weeks before treatment started, and by that time it was determined that the cancer was incurable, but controllable. She began radiotherapy and finished just before christmas. Signs improved, but we were under the impression that she would be starting chemotherapy at the end of January. The hospital never contacted her, and my mother had to then contact the hospital at the start of February to find out what the next step was.
By this time, conditions started to worsen, and the same symptoms were returning, despite my mother being determined to carry on working, she was then eventually told that the cancer was terminal in March 2012, and that treatment could be available to her but with no guarantee of any success.
This shook us all, and my sister, who had already decided she was running the Great North Run in aid of Breast Cancer Care, decided that she would do a lot more. We are having a fundraising event for my mother in May, with many top prizes being donated for auction.
We are determined to send her out with a bang, so, with your help, we can guarantee that our mother can leave knowing that we are doing her proud, and will continue to do so. Any donation, however big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your support.
