Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

About Amelia

Amelia was born at 33 weeks and 2 days (out of 40 weeks for a "normal" pregnancy) by emergency cesaerean section.  She weighed just 2lbs 13oz (1.275kg for you metric converts) and was taken straight to the neonatal special care facility at Walsgrave (or, as the management now call it, University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire).

After several days with breathing support, and a couple of weeks in an incubator, she came home just in time for Christmas.

Information from Bliss, and later more direct contact, were invaluable to us as a family at this stressful time.

About John, and the circle.

Even Amelia knows that Daddy (John to most other people) is a bit bonkers.  Nowhere is that more obvious than his choice of commuting vehicle... a recumbent (lying down) pedal tricycle made by ICE.

With two wheels at the front and one at the back the trike is a "tadpole" configuration - hence the page title.

The Leicester Circle is an imperial century audax (a 100 mile organised cycle ride), but I shall be cycling there and back - taking the total to 150 miles.  Yes, I should be back for dinner...
