Disability Snowsport UK’s vision is of mountains and ski slopes free from barriers. It's our mission to make snowsport accessible for everyone; regardless of disability, injury or experience.

Story

Thank you for visiting our Just Giving page...

As you probably know, we're both really into skiing and snowboarding and are building our life around that.  Since moving up to Aviemore, we have got involved with Disability Snowsport UK.

DSUK is the "skiers and boarders charity".  The mission and vision statements of the charity are...

Vision statement

Skiers & snowboarders with a disability should be able to ski alongside the able bodied as equals at all ski facilities and resorts.

Mission statement

To promote equality and opportunity for people with disabilities to take part in snowsports and to help improve their enjoyment and standard of performance at the level of their choice.

You can view the Disability Snowsport UK DVD on this Vimeo link..  http://www.vimeo.com/6869679 to get a better understanding of what it's all about as really it's the best way...

So what we're doing to raise money is...

The Manchester 10K – (Completed 15th May – 1hr 13 minutes (ran together but Tom could’ve completed sub 35 minutes!)

Swimming the Great North Swim in June, which is a mile across open water - Lake Windermere (Completed 19th June – Tom 42 minutes, Jude 49 minutes)

Running the Great Scottish Half Marathon in September and the weekend after..

Cycling the Peak to Peak, 70 miles from Cairngorm to Nevis

*****UPDATE*****

Tom is now going to be competing in the CAT - Cairngorm Adventure Triathalon on the 17th September with Christine Cufflin, James Cufflin (Christine's husband) - a DSUK instructor is going to be subbing in and taking his place in the Peak to Peak - also on the 17th September...

We can't really express enough how amazing it is to see how DSUK helps improve people's lives.  We can't imagine not being able to rock up to any ski hill and charge about it for the day, by raising essential funds for Disability Snowsport we can make sure that anyone no matter what their disability, whether they were born with it or as a result of an accident, can have access to share that passion with us...

If you've got any questions or want any more info or want to get involved too just send us a message on Facebook or email us on judewestoby@gmail.com or tomjefferson1@hotmail.com
