Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I originally set a target of 1000 donations of £1 but have been told that the minimum donation on justgiving is £2. So I have set a new target of 500 individual donations of £2.

My son, Jude, has severe disabilities and in the last few years we have received a lot of help and support from Acorns who have provided respite for our family and sibling support for our two older boys.

Jude's story can be found at www.judemarrey.wordpress.com

It costs £750 per day for each child's care with Acorns and over £8 million a year to provide support to families. Acorns aims to get about 30% of their funding from statutory organisations, the rest comes from donations and fund raising.

I am running the Birmingham Half Marathon to help with that ongoing fundraising effort. Although I would like you to give as much as you can, my aim is to get as many individual donations as possible with a "Give £2 Pound and Share" campaign. With so many calls on people to help I appreciate that people have to pick and choose who they help but I am hoping that the benefits of social networking and word of mouth can increase the number of people who donate and then share.

1. Donate just 2 pound/euro/dollar (or more if you like).

2. Tell others about my Give £2 and Share campaign on facebook, twitter, at work, in the pub - 750 individual £2 donations would help look after a child like Jude for two days.

3. My target is 0 individual donations before 19th October. That's about 50 donations a week.
