Story
Hello, and thanks for taking the time to visit our site. My sister Judith has chosen to run in the Flora London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the RNID.
My main reason for choosing this charity was when a close family friend had premature twins (Dani and Chloe) at 6 months, and from them being born so early Chloe unfortunately was diagnosed with being profoundly deaf.
Chloe has recently undergone 2 five hour operations to receive a cochlear implant, the first was unsuccessful but the second was a success and with time she will hopefully be able to hear everyday sounds and communicate with us all, also join a main stream school with her sister.
The cost of this operation is approximately £40,000 with thousands of pounds extra needed for teaching and care thereafter.
Chloe also attends The Elizabeth Foundation which is a voluntary organisation for deaf babies, pre-school deaf children from 0-5 years, and their parents. Their aim is to provide comprehensive educational, audiological and support services for deaf babies, pre-school deaf children and their parents, following the philosophy that it is the right for every child to have the chance to learn to talk.
Without all the generous donations that both these Charities receive, Chloe and many thousands of children would be denied the everyday luxury that we all rely on.
So please give generously to give me the encouragement to run this fantastic race!!!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNID - for deaf and hard of hearing people will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support as every £1 really does count.
