The Seriously Injured Players Fund (formerly the Benevolent Fund) provides relief for people who have been seriously injured whilst playing rugby league.

Story

Kilimanjaro is the highest trekking mountain in the world with a summit of 5896m. Ascending the mountain is an extreme challenge incorporating a high element of risk. I plan to take the challenge 6 - 17 November 2010. There are a number of reasons why I have decided to battle with my fears and fitness. Firstly, and most importantly I want to raise money for the RFL Benevolent Fund. The Benevolent Fund aims to support players whose lives are affected by serious injury sustained while playing Rugby League. For more information on how the fund has supported players visit www.rflbenevolentfund.co.uk. Secondly, I needed a challenge which would test my mental and physical fitness. I want to over come my fear of heights and a goal to improve my fitness. I know all a bit extreme but I never wanted an easy life.
