Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

We support the growing number of people in and around Milton Keynes affected by a life-limiting illness. We give our patients and their loved ones specialist, personalised care - free of charge. Only 13.8% of our costs are met by ongoing NHS funding, so we’re dependent on your support. Thank you.

Story

Hiya Everyone

I Got In! For One Time Only - I'm running the London Marathon this year! Aaah, what have I done? This is a once in a lifetime event and a major challenge for me. But I hope, with the encouragement and support of all you lot - my friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances - I will achieve this incredible goal. I will run (the whole way, if I can) this amazing race with the knowledge that I am fundraising for a wonderful and compassionate charity - Willen Hospice. They are a local charity based here in Milton Keynes who give support and care to people with life limiting illnesses (for free).

So, I've now started my long and gruelling journey to train for the big day, but I won't be doing this alone. A friend, Pete Scannell, has also got a place in the marathon, so we will be training together and sharing this amazing experience. Wish us both lots of luck, strength, determination and hopefully some enjoyment, while we prepare ourselves for April 17th.

Finally if you can, I would really appreciate you helping me raise some money for Willen, so could you give a little, or a lot, towards my financial goal? The more money I can raise, the more I won't mind going out for a run in the cold and wet winter!

Updated 10th April - have completed my 1/2 Marathon (Training) Race and did it in 2hr 20min - alittle disappointed, but have alot of training in my legs, so was abit tired. That's my excuse anyway! Have completed all my big runs 18m, 20m and 22m over three weeks and that was hard. As a result of this, I've pulled my IT Band tendon, so have not trained for two weeks! Went for my first run today and it is sore, but I will be running next Sunday - painkillers in hand and a smile on my face.

Please think about sponsoring me, knowing you are will help me make my marathon challenge a reality.

Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
