Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

*Completed the london marathon in 7:30:25*

Hello, i'm Julie and welcome to my Just Giving Page!

I am a very proud mum of three, two boys age 21 and 19 and a 8 year old girl. I am also a carer alongside my Mum for my Dad who has MS.

He was diagnosed over 20 years ago, i remember my Mum sitting me down to break the news of Dads condition , i was pregnant at the time and was convinced that Mum was going to tell me that Dad was going to die. I had never heard of MS at that time and had no idea about the impact that MS would have on all our lives over the years, i was just relieved that Dad wasn't going to die!

Over the years MS has robbed Dad of his mobility, his independence at times his dignity but never of the love that we feel for him. Dad can no longer do anything for himself - a big change from the Dad that we had growing up, he used to be a Scaffolder and i remember going out on the lorry with him, i loved those times and hold these memories close to me always.

Caring for Dad isn't always easy, but we face each challenge as a family and are commited and determind to keep Dad at home with us, where he is loved beyond words.

I wanted to do this, firstly to honour my wonderful Dad to say thank you for the lifetime of memories he has given me, for teaching me the meaning of the word unconditional love and for just being Dad. Also to all the people involved in Dad's care, the carers who come in everyday, the MS nurses just to name a few.

you can see my training videos by going to youtube and typing in marathon training x factor

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
