Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On 12th October this year I will be running in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon.    My aim is to raise as much money as possible for F.R.O.D.O.- Foundation for the Relief of Disabled Orphans, a based charity with which I recently became involved.

F.R.O.D.O. - Foundation for the Relief of Disabled Orphans - was founded in June 2006 to provide treatment and care for abandoned and disabled children in countries of need. Romania has the highest incidence of abandoned children in the world, over 9,500 a year, and has therefore been the starting point for the charity, however the work has been extended to include Albania and Moldova.   Many of the children are often abandoned by their parents who do not know how to care for them.  F.R.O.D.O. is financing family support teams to help disabled children stay with their families.

The vital point about the charity is its vibrancy and determination, it is committed to changing the way these vulnerable children are treated and cared for.

In support of F.R.O.D.O., together with a group of friends, I have taken on a challenge to raise £25,000 to send a medical team from the UK to Romania to treat 70 disabled children.   We aim to do this through a variety of fundraising events, including this half marathon.

I am looking forward to seeing how much we can engage people in support and seeing the results of our efforts.   In the short term however, I am just looking forward to seeing the finishing line on 12th October!
