Hello!

I am about to enter my very first race The Bupa Edinburgh 10k on the 4th May 2008 and as I only started running a number of months ago it does feel very daunting !

However the reason I am doing this is a very important one . My godson Lewis Hunter suffers from a debilitating form of epilepsy . This started when he was just 2 and has become progressively more serve. Lewis is a great boy , loves school, and playing with his friends but has found the last year particularly hard as he has now a reduce capability for school , as a result of the high number of seizures he has endured.  In addition the medication Lewis is on makes him ill and as there are very few medications that can be used the outlook has been very bleak. This has been very difficult for the whole family and Lewis has had to be very brave

However some weeks ago Lewis was started on a new diet that could be his only chance of a normal life again and this is where I need your help .
Matthews Friends provides support , training , advice, for the use of a Ketogenic diet that can result in the removal of medication all together and we hope for Lewis to at least reduce this need . The diets are very strickly controlled and need specially trained dieticians to administer,( along with hositpital engagement) which makes this costly. Therefore I am looking to raise money to ensure this charity can continue to provide the life changing support it does.
