On the 20st of September 2009 I CROSSED the English Channel in 14 hours despite a sunless day, rough waves, cold air temperature, 16C water temp and a strong opposite tide. I lost 5kg in the process and I have a few more to go....

Between now and the 1st of October (awaiting for good weather), I'm going to cross La Manche (or at least try to !) by swimming from Dover to Cap Gris-Nez, namely almost 35 km (in a straight line)!
I know it is Credit Crunch but even so i should have been able to go home by a safer way like Eurostar, Ferries or even Kite Surf. However those wouldn't have been crazy enough to raise fund for children who don't have the choice of their means of transport.
Indeed I want to dedicate my challenge to Whizz kidz (http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/), an association which gives the chance to disabled children to lead a better life by providing them adequate equipments.
Some "trip details" to motivate your donation ?
- I wish i could say it will be a nice swim in hot water but with its 15-17C and NO WET SUIT, it still be much colder that my beloved Mediterranean. But don't worry 4 months of cold showers and 8 week ends in Dover have been a pretty good training !
- Will I be alone ? Of course not! jellyfishes and super tankers will be all the way long with me in this one of the world's busiest seaways !
- At least i will be clean ? For sure just need to avoid oil slick !
