Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. On the 20th September 2009 - IN JUST A FEW DAYS!!! - Zak and I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with a team of friends to raise funds for ACE Africa (www.ace-africa.org) - please dig deep and support us in this terrifying but exciting endeavour!
Standing at 5,896m, Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the earth's crust and is among the highest freestanding mountains in the world. It is the largest mountain that non-technical climbers can tackle; the altitude and low temperature (dropping to -22 degrees overnight) make this a difficult and dangerous trek. The breathable oxygen at the top is less than half the amount than is common at sea level, and we will cover at least eighty kilometres on nothing but our own two feet over the seven days it will take to reach the top and return!!
Not only will we be climbing, but Juls will also leading a group of others who are all raising funds for ACE Africa. She wil therefore not be permitted to winge or moan. Please spare a thought and a few pounds - it will truly be a challenge of a lifetime!!!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ACE gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
If any adrenalin junkies would like to join the group trek, let me know. There are a couple of spaces left.
