Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On 4th July 2009 I will be throwing myself out of a perfectly good aeroplane at 10,000ft.

Why on earth would I want to do this I hear you all ask.

No, not because I am stupid, although I do wonder about some of my decisions sometimes, but because I would like to raise money for two fabulous charities that are close to my heart.

My first is Compton Hospice (reg charity no: 512387).

Compton has been supporting the people of Wolverhampton and its surrounding areas for over 25 years now. They provide specialist care for people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness such as cancer. Their Palliative care services include advice on symptom control and treatment of pain in their 22 bedded In-patient Unit and 20 place Day Unit. Not only do they treat their patients but they also look after their families aswell, providing counselling for both patients and relatives, complementary therapies, a chaplaincy service and welfare services. They even have a Clinical Nurse Specialist team who will support patients in their own homes. Compton Hospice also has its own Lymphoedema clinic and separately located Education Department which provides a wide range of courses up to Masters degree level for health care professionals.

Being in the catering industry, naturally my second charity is Hospitality Action (reg charity no:1101083).

Since 1837 Hospitality Action has been at the forefront of the industry providing specialised support to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK. They support people suffering from life changing illnesses such as cancer and multiple sclerosis as well as helping people who are experiencing poverty, domestic violence and bereavement. They also support families with sick and disabled children. Hospitality Action ensure that not only are they supporting people who have been hit by hard times, but also that they are supporting the benevolent organisation for the hospitality industry. Should tragic circumstances befall anyone who has worked or is currently working in the hospitality industry (including for 3663), Hospitality Action can offer support.

All of the money donated on this site will go direct to Compton Hospice, who in turn will send half to Hospitality Action.
