My Nan is a wonderful, determined, funny and elegant woman.  She is the centre of her family and everyone who meets her naturally gravitates towards her:  this is due to her sharp wit, interest in others and unique ability to make you eat "just one more kit kat" .  My Nan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year and within the space of a few months, in 2 different visits I saw my Nan become almost a completely different person.  What remains and will always remain is an elegant and strong woman with a little giggle that I imagine hasn't changed since she was a mischievous 6 year old!

Many people have been affected by Alzheimer's in one way or another, but until it affects your family do you realise what a cruel and wicked disease it is.  It strips the affected of their dignity, privacy and sense of self, causing confusion, anger and hurt.  It also affects family and carers who have to deal with watching their loved one change in personality and abilities in a drastic way.

On 3 April I will do a tandem skydive, jumping 10,000ft to the earth from a plane! I hope through my "daring deed" that I will raise some money which goes a little towards helping in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other forms of dementia.  Wish me luck!
