Story

Dear all,

Just wanted to say a great big thank you to you all for sponsoring me.

As you might have noticed, it was a tad on the warm side on Sunday (a mere 30 degrees C or so) and this did little to add to the enjoyment of the occasion. Add to this the fact that the race was vastly oversubscribed, meaning it took 25 mins to even get to the start line, and that many people started walking, and therefore getting in the way, as early as the second km, and it ended up as the slowest 10k I've ever run (not that I've done many). Rachel and I finished in 55 mins, about 10 mins slower than 'usual', but with the heat we were just grateful to have got round.

We also got to meet one of the World Land Trust staff at the end, and I can assure you that they are extremely grateful for your donations. It really is a cause that I believe in so I am also extremely grateful to all of you for these.

Now, bring back those winter runs... all is forgiven.

Cheers,

Dave.

I am afraid that once more I am doing some running, and I'm hoping to raise a few pounds for my favourite charity, the World Land Trust (who, in their 'kindness', gave me a free place in this particular 10K).

On Sunday 2nd July I am running the Great British 10K Run in London (http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk/). It isn't as far as I usually run so I must admit that I'm really not expecting much in the way of sponsorship and I don't think anyone should feel obliged. But if you do have just a couple of quid to spare, I can assure you it is an excellent cause:
the World Land Trust, with Sir David Attenborough as its Patron, aims to permanently preserve and restore the world's rainforests (and other vital woodlands). Their work has a massive significance in reducing the impact of climate change on all our lives, and in maintaining the habitats of many endangered species of plants and animals. The WLT help create jobs in all the areas where they operate and, to date, have managed to preserve more than 300,000 acres of rainforest throughout South America, South East Asia and India. For more details about their work, please see here http://www.worldlandtrust.org/about/index.htm and here http://www.worldlandtrust.org/about/mission.htm

So, please don't feel obliged, but if you've got as far as this page, then go on... donate a pound or two.

Cheers,

Dave.
