Connect is a national charity for people living with aphasia (communication disability) which is often caused by stroke. Aphasia can strike anyone at any age and at any time. 1 in every 200 people in the UK lives with aphasia and each person experiences it differently. Some people cannot speak at all, some people have just a few words. It affects reading, writing and numbers. Aphasia can lead to lack of confidence, depression, social exclusion – and people can lose their connection with the world. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Our vision is a simple one, we want a world where people with aphasia can re-connect with life again. Find out more about how we do that at www.ukconnect.org

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am walking the adidas Women's 5K Challenge on Sunday 7th September 2008, in support of Connect - the communication disability network.

Connect supported me after my stroke and after two years of coming to Connect, I now volunteer at reception where I meet other people with aphasia.

Please sponsor me to walk 5km and help Connect continue to support more people with aphasia. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Connect - the Communication Disability Network will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
