Janet Weaden is/was my wife and partner for more than 35 years who finally succumbed to breast cancer on 26/4 after more than 4 years of fighting. A lecturer at the National Star College for the physically disabled she was an inspirational character to me, friends and work collegues and more importantly the students, her special young people. At Janet's thanksgiving service a collection raised £524.82 and donations in lieu of flowers a further £425.00. People have been very generous for which I'm very grateful but it also shows the love, respect and affection pepole have for Janet - a very special person. Even whilst battling secondary breast cancer in her lungs, liver and bones she completed the 4 day Inca Trail Trek to Machu Pichu. Janet always looked out for others first and I want to show my respect for both Janet's character and spirit and raise money for the charities funding research into treating cancer and those who provide end of life care. I will be trekking from the Dead Sea to Petra in Jordan in the middle of October. Training and fund raising is going well with brilliant support from work colleagues, friends and family of both Janet and I. Janet's friends have been incredibly helpful and supportive to me. I seek whatever donations you can make to the charities I'm supporting in Janet's name. I am paying all the costs so all money raised will go to the charity.
