Who would have thought it knowing me 12 months ago that I would have ever considered running to the end of the road never mind a Marathon. Those of you who know me would have laughed and I would have been laughing along with you! But GUESS WHAT, On Sunday 25th April 2010 I am taking part in the London Marathon and raising money for REFUGE.
FACTS TIME:
1 Woman in 4 will experience domestic violence at some point in their life. This means that a woman you know, a sister, friend, daughter or colleague - could be at real risk of abuse
2 Women are killed each week by a current or former partner in England and Wales
On average, a women is beaten 35 times before calling the police
In 90% of domestic violence incidents in a family with children, children are in the same or next room, and in 50% of these cases, childrenare directly abused
Refuge is the country's largest single provider if services to the women looking to escape this life of abuse.
Please help me raise money for this fantastic cause by sponsoring me through this page. I am giving up Whisky and Guinness for 6 months to get myself into perfect physical condition (lol!) to take part. There are many cold/wet/windy mornings ahead running the roads of London whilst you are warm and cosy as well! So GO ON, please do your bit and show your support.
