AMURT is an international relief and development organisation. AMURT is significant for being one of the few global NGOs originating from the developing world.
It has grassroots relief teams and development projects in over 30 countries. AMURT's greatest strength is its wealth of human resource, consisting of experienced, life-long volunteers and local community members.
I will be undertaking a 48hr fast to raise funds for those Burmese Cyclone victims who are fasting simply because they have no access to proper food/water supplies.
I'll not be eating anything on Friday or Saturday 16/17 May, so please spare a thought for the suffering people I represent and dig deep and sponsor me online.
UPDATE - I successfully finished my fast on Sunday Morning, having drunk only water on Saturday and nothing on Friday. It was a really enriching experience, knowing that whatever suffering I was going through was making the lives of Burmese victims better. Many thanks to all who supported me. You can also sponsor me in retrospect and the funds will get through to Burma.
AMURT volunteers have already arrived in Burma to help those in need. The money I raise will be sent directly to our volunteers who will use it to undertake some of the work needed out there. Read more about the relief efforts Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: AMURT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
