Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In December 2007 Terry Pratchett, one of my favourite authors, was diagnosed with a rare early-onset form of Alzheimer's. So for the last couple of years I have entered Jane Tomlinson's Run for All in Leeds to try to raise some money for the Alzheimer's Research Trust to fund research to help people like Terry from losing their thinking skills.

Well I did it!  Amongst the 11000 runners expected to take part there was British running legend and world record holder for marathon, 20K and 10K road runs - Paula Radcliffe, a team of Leeds Rhinos fans, Dean Andrews from "Ashes to Ashes" and Joe Swash, former Eastenders’ actor and ‘I’m a Celebrity’ 2008 winner.

It was a bit cooler than it's been the last couple of years so it was nice running conditions. I finished in 48:28 in 545th (out of 10,000), so just over a minute quicker than last year and 253 places higher. I would have finished in a sub 45 minute time if I hadn't got stuck behind hoards of slow joggers at the start. I would have even beaten Paula Radcliffe as she was only three minutes in front of me at the end! I seem to have finished ahead of most of the celebrity runners - even Nell McAndrew. I didn't even get passed by any fruit, nuns, superheroes or smurfs this year!

So I did actually manage to finish in less minutes than I am years old again.

Don't forget to look out for me on Channel Five next Saturday morning at 10:15 on a programme showing action from the run.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Charities are finding it harder than usual to raise money in these harsh economic conditions, so your generosity will be all the more appreciated. So please dig deep and donate now.
