Story
Thank you for visiting this fundraising page in memory of Kai Man Lam who sadly passed away on Thursday 2nd Oct 2008 due to complications arising from Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). All donations made through this site will go towards further research into Histiocytosis, the development in treatments and to support the families of other sufferers.
Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) affects histiocytes called macrophages. It is a rare disease which normally affects children, and is almost unheard of in adults. Affected patients suffer from fever, enlargement of the liver and spleen, a fall in the number of normal blood cells, abnormalities of blood clotting and accumulation of macrophages and other white blood cells within affected tissues, typically the bone marrow, liver, spleen and lymph nodes. The disease occurs in primary and secondary forms and secondary HLH typically occurs in people receiving treatment that reduces the function of the body's immune system (immune suppressive therapy), or children born with inherited abnormalities of immunity.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Histiocytosis Research Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
