Savali A project for women

A radical approach to domestic violence

Domestic violence is a delicate issue, it has o be handled carefully. It is not an issue of victim and aggressor, but establishing a family environment of love, appreciation understanding and care.

We do have a very effective solution to this problem. We help families to understand it’s mechanism and how to deal with it.

The member of a family who is most vulnerable is the person we work with and help her to be able to deal with their own situation and support others. We support the so called victim to play an important part in the family so that "dominant male" and /or other members in the family who are inflicting violence are listened to helped to find nonviolent ways of expressing themselves.

How we do it

We reach out tom women in their homes, we find people who are suffering from domestic violence or are in danger of it. We listen to them using NVC empathy skills. We keep visiting hem as many times as necessary.

We bring together women with similar difficulties and help them share how they are dealing with the problems they face.

We support other family members through mediation and listening.

We offer these women training in NVC.

The process of Nonviolent Communication

NVC helps individuals to connect compassionately,. This compassionate connection leads to understanding. It helps all parties to see what every one needs and find ways that that every one’s needs are met peacefully.

This process heals wounds that people living in the same family have been carrying for many years.

It ensures a life serving atmosphere in the family and helps it’s members to express themselves in ways that others can listen.

Four Steps of NVC

Observation : Observe without judging or dignosing what happened.

Feelings : Identifying what feelings (painful or pleasant) arise.

Needs: See what needs are behind the feelings you experience.

Requests : After identifying needs what practical steps are required to take by oneself or by others involved to transform the situation.
