Story

*******Great result - both finished with good times, Phil just over 2 hours with Elspeth about 5 minutes behind. And it was HOT! Also BIG THANK YOU for the donations. Money keeps coming in and this extra will be used to buy beds for the new school . At the moment the students all share beds which is not good. So we need 85 bunk beds to change this, each bunk is around £40. Thanks for your help, it makes a real differnce to the students.*******

Missed the last posting date for Uganda…? It is nearly December 5th….

Well – you have nearly – but can we offer you a better, cheaper and more exciting alternative??   The truth is that you can spend a small fortune sending Christmas cards, mince pies and sprouts to us in Uganda so how about this instead…?

Phil and I are running in the Kampala Half-Marathon on December 5th…so instead of worrying about the above (which probably wouldn’t get past customs into our PO Boxes)… can we persuade you to

a) sponsor us a few quid to stagger round  or..

b) if cash is short, perhaps you can sponsor us a little anyway but tell us how much it would be in Ugandan shillings as it will sound much better (well effectively)

5000 sh = £1.30 /10.000 sh = £3 ish /20.000 sh = £6 ish /50,000 sh = £16ish

And so on….

We are very aware that there are lots of requests for fundraising for Wobulenzi Town Academy so we thought we could make it easy by sponsoring us online. We plan to specifically buy some English dictionaries for the new library – and at least help Phil spell ‘road safety’. For more information about WTA please visit www.servedirect.org

Also – we are very prepared to take bets or increased sponsorship for Phil to beat me – or for me to beat Phil. We will both happily partake in ‘match-fixing’

Despite the hills, heat, dust and Phil’s vendetta on the matatus (taxis) and their wing mirrors, we hope to stagger round and sprint impressively down the Presidential Airstrip which is the official Start and Finish Line. Jerry and Michele may provide photographic evidence of the final times, plus hand out gallons of water and plenty of glucose tablets (on the other hand they may just go for a coffee and swim and leave them to it - Jerry..).

We can’t compete with all your messages telling us how you have already finished your Christmas shopping and written your cards  - so we invite you to take part vicariously in the Kampala Half on December 5th!

Donating on this page is simple, fast and secure. once you donate they will sends your money directly to the charity and make sure that Gift Aid is reclaimed (if eligible) on your behalf.
