This will be the second time that I have run in the London Marathon!!

I am a mum of five and a part time midwife!!  Recently I came second place in Nurse of the Year!!

I was a surrogate for a wonderful friend who was unable to have a second child due to having previously been very poorly with eclampsia with her first son,  Will, who was born at one and a half pounds due to his severe prematurity.  Will is now a gorgeous nine year old, and in 2004 I had Freddie for them who is now four years old.

As a midwife I have a deep interest in pre-eclampsia and look after many women who have it both mildy and severely.  This condition can be life threatening to both mum and baby and is still a poorly understood condition but one where I have seen babies born to early to survive because the mothers health has necessitated delivery of the baby to save her life.

I completed the 2008 London Marathon and also the 2008 Great North Run.  I train when I can in between looking after my five children and working shifts.  I run in all weathers and absolutely enjoy it.  My children also accomapny me on the bikes for some of my runs -wearing the charity t-shirts! 

Thank you so so much for your donation which will go along way for the charity's work in raising awareness of this cruel condition and to promote research into the causes and screening and treatment methods.  The charity also educates and advises health professionals about all aspects of this condition and also supports women and their families who have experienced pre-eclampsia.
