Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Ok so you are probably wondering why we have decided to do this particular challenge?

That's easy. I personally love cycling. Most of you will know me as that mad woman on the spinning bike - Seargent is the nick name (no idea why)   :-) Unfortunately for Robin he just happened to be in the class when I said that I was looking for volunteers to do a cycle ride with me, not sure if i said how far? :-0 sorry Robin.

I have known Robin just over a year as I was the Fitness Manager at the Abbey Centre in Berinsfield at the time he signed on the dotted line and became a member.  Robin works hard in the gym and enjoys the spin sessions, he has made lots of great friends since joining last year, I have been setting Robin's programmes since he started at Nexus - the company I work for. I knew he was strong enough to do the challenge when he volunteered. (Actually, I was hoping if I gave him a strong enough programme then he would be able to pull me along most of the way! I would of course be shouting words of encouragement to him from behind?)

On a serious note,

I am sure that most of us know someone that has suffered with Breast Cancer so we know how they feel and how important the Against Breast Cancer Charity is to them and their families. I was amazed at how many women - and men - have breast cancer, how many will die from it and how many will get it in the future. I am sure you will agree with me when I say that we only really look at statistics if the disease itself effects someone close to us.

On a personal note, as many of you will know, Robin’s wife Harriet has active cancer. Although ovarian cancer, Robin is doing this ride for ABC partly to make sure he does not focus attention on just one type of this awful disease.

As to myself, I live and work with many who have, or have had, cancer - the latter group including my Mother Jean.

Both Robin and I hope that with your donation we can help towards the fight Against Breast Cancer.

Thank you from both of us
