Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Many many thanks for visiting my fundraising site on behalf of the Stroke Association.... I shall continuously update this page and let you know how I am getting on; how much Kendal Mint Cake I have eaten whilst training, chocolates, haribo etc etc etc......................

Well, I did it…….

Kendal Mint Cake: 3 bars plus lot of chocolate, crisps, bananas and glucose tablets

Haribo:  lost count

Training:  1 day then got scared

Don’t quite know how I did but I am very proud of myself to be able to say that I have done the “3 Peaks Challenge”!!!

On a personal level it was hard; probably one of the hardest things I have had to do but it was a team effort and we all (9 lone climbers coming together) dug in and made it…   feet fine, body fine but chr1st do my quads (thigh muscles) hurt.

Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored me and apologies for going quiet following the training day but was very scared as the reality set in on the Brecon Beacons and just didn’t want to talk about it… right up until I set foot on the base of Ben Nevis – I did not want to be there….  but what a 24 hours – fantastic (now looking back).    Just the auction to go to try to raise a bit more then that is me D. O.  N. E. !  (no more challenges for a year or two).

Thanks again everyone… my sites are still open for a while if you would like to add to the already fantastic amount raised......

The Stoke Association: strokes are the third most common cause of death in the UK. It is the single most common cause of disability.  It is not age dependant and it is not sex dependent.  It can happen FAST and mostly without warning but it does have a huge impact on not only the person who has suffered the stroke, but those around who care for that person.  The Stroke Association’s main focus is to prevent strokes and to give support to people who have had a stroke and their families through support and rehabilitation.  The work is endless and invaluable to anyone in a position to have to call upon them.                         www.stroke.org.uk
