About my charity : Farleigh Hospice Farleigh Hospice
Caring for Life is at the centre of our philosophy at Farleigh Hospice. Caring for the lives of individuals and their families who have been touched by cancer or other life limiting illnesses. It's about extra-ordinary people taking the time to improve the lives of others; about adding life to days, even when days can't be added to life. We are the sole provider of hospice care in Mid Essex and our huge range of services are offered completely free of charge.

My personal message:

THANKS!!!!!! Everyone for ALL your support, listening and sponsorship!!! As of today, 18 May, I have raised for definite, £3675 with the promise of a little more to come.  I am REALLY very grateful and I am sure Farleigh Hospice will be too. Thank-yous with an updated total coming soon. THANKS!! Karen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi there,

Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page. You have probably read my long, long letter all about me, the running and Farleigh Hospice, the really worthwhile cause I am raising money for. I know I promised that if you sponsored me I wouldn't talk about it any more, however ........

I would really like to say thanks for all the support I have been given. If you have been insane enough to ask me how I am/how's it going, Apologies!!  And, if I told you without even being asked, really sorry!!   Also at Christmas I did make resolutions to get and stay in touch/go out more, with family and friends and have been rubbish!  Will try harder!  Martin, Sam and Tasha have been really tolerant because I have been out a lot and haven't been AT ALL grumpy with tiredness/pain. After the long Sunday runs, Martin has cooked all the lunches - tho' think I may be going a bit over the top with the hobbling now. Maybe not, there's a couple more weeks.

As for the Marathon itself - excitement and dread. I have had injuries and just this week seen physios and a podiatrist who has 'blue-petered' my shoe just to get me round. So, no great time but I really hope to enjoy the day. I have met some good running mates and we hope to meet up somehow and give each other support but if not, I just hope to do the 26.2 and get to recognise family and friends in the crowd. I do have new lenses for distance but have found I cant read my watch - so I will be squinting and possibly waving to complete strangers!

Anyway, as usual, I'm talking too much. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Farleigh Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK tax-payer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support and, for listening, Karen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
