Karen's Clipper Round the World Yacht Race raising funds for Unicef UK

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page raising funds for Unicef UK.
The Clipper race is an official charity partner for Unicef UK, raising funding for children around the world who are experiencing even more dangerous challenges. They are facing disease, hunger and the chaos of war and disaster.
I am preparing to take on my next big challenge since losing my husband Dave very suddenly to cancer a few years ago. He had been a wonderful father of three amazing children, and a true engineer.
I will be sailing three legs of the race, crossing three oceans, competing in 8 races, visiting 10 ports in 6 countries, and racing almost 17,000 NM
Leaving from the Whitsundays, Eastern Australia I will sail three races in Leg 5, cross the equator and enter the South China Sea to Sanya, China. The next race is to Subic Bay in the Philippines, then on to Zhuhai, China. This will be around 38 days sailing.
I will then sail Leg 6 from Zhuhai into the East China Sea on to Qingdao, China before sailing across the mighty North Pacific Ocean to Seattle, USA.
My final leg is the home-coming Leg 8 crossing the Atlantic from New York to London, by way of Bermuda and Northern Ireland!

I started learning to sail a few years ago at the Marconi Sailing Club , a fantastic club whose members have given me so much advice and friendship. I sail mainly small dinghies, so the Clipper race in a 70ft boat is a massive step up for me.
I'm also aiming to use this challenge as a means of inspiring other people to take up sports and other challenges. I have a background of working in engineering industry, and playing football and other sports. I aim to share my experience in schools for wider education, and in particular, to inspire women and girls to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), as well as taking part in sailing and other sports.
I know that money can be tight, so please know that even £5 helps me get closer to my goal!
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give.
