Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On June 16th my lovely sister Gabi and myself will set off to travel to Herbrandston in Pembrokeshire. From this base we will start our walk along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, up to St. Davids. We are doing this for Gabi's 50th birthday which is on June 27th, and in order to raise money for the Independence Trust, Gloucester in memory of my oldest son Tristan, who we lost to an accidental drug overdose in 2007.

In the past I have cycled over part of the Dolomites, jumped out of an airplane (attached to someone who knew what he was doing!) and organised some great salsa events to raise funds. This time it will be five days of walking about 10 - 12 miles each day, so not quite as dangerous or tiring - but that doesn't mean it's not a challenge!

The Independence Trust offers help to those in addiction, mental health crisis or who find themselves homeless. The Tristan Whittaker Fund has been set up especially to help encourage communication where students and other young people might find themselves stuck without someone to turn to. Working together with Gloucestershire University, some interesting and exciting projects are in the planning stage, so Tristans memory can live on, making a difference in the lives of others.

Please donate to help make Tristan's memory live on. I thank you from the bottom of my heart :)   Karin
