A massive thank you for helping us reach our original target of £360 for the decorating materials to renovate the Child's i offices!!! Chris and I are so very excited that the mission Lucy has set us is now a reality.
We are still aware that lots of people have offered their support and we do still need funds to kit out the offices and help set up the babies transitional home. We now have a new target of £1,000.
At the end of March Chris and I are going out to Uganda to help Child's i Foundation. We are putting (well Chris') decorating skills to good use by renovating three outbuildings that will be used as offices for the new home that Lucy and the team have been setting up since they went out in December.
I met Lucy Buck last May after returning from travelling, I had dabbled a little in volunteering when I was away. When I met Lucy though, I was bowled over by her passion and determination in setting up Child's i Foundation. She put into practice what she had learnt from her volunteering in Uganda to set up the charity. She really understands what is needed and is approaching baby abandonment in a different way by building a transitional home for babies supporting new mothers when they need it most, but not using the home to replace the family
Once the offices are completed they will need kitting out with desks, computers, filing cabinet etc. So I will also be trying over the next few weeks to raise money for these as well. Get in touch (kat@childsifoundation.org) if you have an old laptop that is in good working order, we have extra baggage from BA so are planning on taking as much stuff as we can!
Please dig deep so that we can be worked to the bone!
Kat & Chris xxxx
