My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

In June 2009 I will be dragging my behind up Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of a brilliant charity called Children in Crisis.

At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust and my challenge is to reach the summit! The trek will take 8 days with an average of 10 hours climbing per day - avoiding altitude sickness!

Children in Crisis focuses on providing an education to children both at home and abroad to ensure that they can provide for a better future - if you'd like more information please check out their website - www.childrenincrisis.org  Here are some ways in which your money could be spent...

£5.00 could buy exercise books and pens for 100 children in.

£10.58 could pay for a week’s stock for the health clinic which provides medicines for children at Karte Char Day Care Centre.

£16.83 could cover the cost of 20 children from Karte Char Day Care Centre to go on  an educational school trip

£20.69 could provide play and sports equipment for one child on the Street Working Children Programme in

£40 could provide a medical kit, including a thermometer, stethoscope, iodine and a blood pressure monitor for one woman on the midwife training programme inWestern China(£1,000 could provide 25).

£69 could provide a school tool box for a trainee teacher on the teacher training programme inEast Timor. These boxes provide teachers with everything that they need for their classes including: chalk, notebooks, pens, pencils, maps and mathematical

instruments.

£114 could send a child to school for a year at the Karte Char Day Care Centre in .

£147 could cover the cost of the course fees of one woman on the midwife training programme in.

£240 could buy a large anatomical body model for teaching children in primary schools inon the “Life Without Drugs” programme.

£13,714 could provide school toolkits for 200 teachers on the teacher training course inEast Timor. The school toolkits include locally sourced low cost teaching aids for teachers to help them plan child centred lessons.

I would hugely appreciate any donation you can give, no matter how big or small.  As well as donations from great people like you, I will be organising FUN fundraising events and will let you know all about them as I go.  In return for your generous contribution, I promise to share the tales of my trek, provide photographic evidence and buy you a beer when I see you!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children in Crisis gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
