UPDATE - 27/09/08

I did it!!!!

It was the most fantastic experience I have ever had – I’m not sure I can actually describe what it felt like to be hurtling to earth so quickly from 15,000 ft!

The air is so crisp and clear, and its so peaceful and silent up there. At times it even felt like we were stationary. You get a real idea of how beautiful our world is from up in the sky – we were looking down over Grange-over-sands so could see what has to be some of our country’s most spectacular landscape.

If you ever get the chance to do this – then please do! If it’s not something you could ever imagine doing then please donate!!

I got the dive filmed and so will post the footage on YouTube – just as soon as I’ve worked out how! For now here is the link to my flickr page!

Not sure what adventure I’ll have next, but these fundraising challenges are certainly giving me a taste for adventure…

UPDATE - 20/08/08

I’m gutted. The jump didn’t happen. We went along to the airfield, arriving nice and early on Saturday morning, I had butterflies in my tummy the whole way. We registered and did our training but to no avail, the wind just wouldn’t die down enough to create a window of opportunity.

The trainer, Den, was fantastic – I’m actually really looking forward to what I know will be an amazing experience! I’m going to get the jump filmed so there will be video evidence and photos of the day!!

We have re-booked for the weekend of 27th September and are going to camp at the airfield so if we can’t jump on Saturday, we will be around on Sunday, just in case!

Thank you for your support so far…!

UPDATE – 15/08/08

The jump is tomorrow… YIKES!!

I’ve just read a comment in response to my blog on the Professional Fundraising website that’s actually made me feel much better. Becky Slack, the Editor, described her own experience of a 14,000 jump she did in New Zealand and said it was the most terrifying thing she’s ever done, but also the best!!

All day I’m going to have butterflies in my tummy but I know it’ll be worth it.

I think this will be my last sponsored event; I’m getting a bit of a taste for challenges! After completing the Wheels for Wildlife ride, I attempted a 60 mile ride around Pendle – for fun!

Thank you for the support I’ve had from everyone, you have no idea how much it means.

Think of me tomorrow…!!

UPDATE

On Sunday 15th June I completed the biggest challenge I have ever ever EVER faced! I did the 50 mile Wheels for Wildlife Ride through The Beautiful Trough of Bowland. It was an extraordinary day with fantastic weather, great company keeping me going and stunning views. All the elements were in my favour, and the training paid off as I managed to complete the ride in a jaw dropping 4hours 35mins (inc a coffee and cake stop) – I had expected to finish in about 6-7hrs!!

The parachute jump is next, that’s due to take place on Saturday 16th August in the South Lakes area.

Am starting to feel a little nervous, but I know I can do it!!

Original message:

Hi - thanks for visiting my page!

I believe in the work of The Wildlife Trust SOOOOO much I am willing to throw myself out of a plane and complete a challenging 50 mile bike ride through the beautiful but hilly Trough of Bowland.

The Wildlife Trust don’t just protect the fluffy bunnies and woodlands, we also do fantastic work in urban areas allowing local people to improve their quality of life through improving their surroundings.

I work full time for The Trust and so know first hand how good we are at improving our region. Each donation to my page will make an actual difference and you have the opportunity to go and see, hear, taste and smell how your hard earned cash is actually making a difference on your doorstep!

Thank you for visiting my page, now make yourself feel great and donate! If you ever wanted to do something like this but didn’t quite dare, give the Trust a couple of quid…!

Donating couldn’t be easier, just click the link above.

Please leave a message of support as I know that will make a massive difference when I’m stood in the open door way of a plane 10,000ft above the Lake District and looking at the Living Landscape below!
