I am travelling to Ethiopia in November this year to work with Ethiopiaid; a charity set up by Alec Reed, the Chairman of the Reed Recruitment Family of Compainies.

Ethiopiaid currently supports 16 projects across Ethiopia. Some collegues from Reed and I will be working with three in particular:

Addis Development Vision which provides access to education for children with disabilities, and aims to change social attitudes towards disabilities

Hope Enterprises aims to educate some of the 60,000 street children in Addis Ababa by providing free schooling and breakfast

House of Angels is a hospice, run by nuns, which provides care to people of all ages. It also runs an orphange for children affected by HIV/AIDS

The work that Ethiopiaid supports is essential in improving the lives of so many people across the country. I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to support this foundation. It will cost £500 to get to Ethiopia, which I will be contributing myself, so that anything you can donate will go straight to the charity.

In a world that is becoming increasingly materialistic, and consumer obsessed, even in these times of 'recession' it is so important to be reminded of other parts of the world where people still struggle with the basic needs in life. I really can do something to make a difference and so can you.
