From the RNOH website:
The original Buttercup Day took place in the 1930s when children picked buttercups from the countryside and sold them to raise money for the hospital. This fundraising tradition was revived in 2003 and the walk has been a huge success over the past four years, raising over £140,000 in total.
The 2007 Buttercup Walk has been the most successful so far, with our regular Buttercup members, their families and friends braving the rain to take part and helping to raise more than £40,000. Organised by the Trust, the Walk aims to raise funds for the direct enhancement and improvement of patient care at the RNOH.
We are inviting you to participate in this event at Stanmore. The walk covers 1km - it is not a race and you can complete some or all of the course at your own pace and in your own way. If you feel unable to undertake the walk yourself, you may wish to nominate someone to walk on your behalf.
If you have any queries, please contact Simone Hamilton, Events Coordinator on tel: 020 8909 5349 or email buttercupwalk@rnoh.nhs.uk.
Unfortunately, for Health and Safety reasons, dogs are not permitted on the day except for guide dogs.
